PRE-RETREAT GUIDE

Everything you need to know before you land in Rio. Arrival tips, packing checklist, and local recommendations — all in one place.

HOW TO GET THERE & SETTLE IN

Practical info so you arrive relaxed, safe, and ready.

✈️WHICH AIRPORT

Fly into Galeão International Airport (GIG) — Rio's main international hub. Santos Dumont (SDU) is domestic only. From Galeão, it's roughly 45–60 min by Uber or taxi to Ipanema.

🏨WHERE TO STAY

We recommend Ipanema or Leblon — safe, beautiful, and walking distance from the studio. We'll share a curated hotel & Airbnb list at every budget once your spot is confirmed.

📅WHEN TO ARRIVE

Arrive the day before the retreat starts. Many participants come 2–3 days early to explore Rio, recover from jet lag, and arrive at Day 1 fully present.

🚗GETTING AROUND

Use Uber or 99 (both widely available and cheap). Walking between Ipanema and Leblon is easy and beautiful. We share meeting points for each day in advance.

💵MONEY

Brazil uses BRL (Brazilian Reais). Cards are accepted almost everywhere, but carry some cash for markets and small vendors. ATMs are available throughout Ipanema.

📱CONNECTIVITY

Buy a local SIM card at the airport (Claro or TIM are best). Alternatively, an international plan or eSIM works well in Rio. Uber and maps work on WiFi too.

A NOTE ON SAFETY

Rio is a vibrant, well-visited city — and like any major city, it rewards informed travelers. Stick to Ipanema, Leblon, and Botafogo. Use Uber instead of street taxis. Don't flash expensive jewelry or phones. Our team has deep local knowledge and will be with you throughout the week.

You'll receive a detailed safety briefing on Day 1. You are never navigating this alone.
